embraces team approach and renders the following speciality and super-speciality obstetric and gynecological services on scheduled days. The team practice in OBGYN with such large number of consultants is first of its kind in South India.
Facilities
- State-of-the-art facilities with well-equipped Labour Rooms, Obstetric Operation theatres, HDU facilities with highly qualified specialists, registrars, well trained nursing and para medical staff.
- NICU, ICU and round the clock Blood bank facilities, are available in the campus making the care comprehensive and safe.
- The specialists provide protocol based and Ethical care in association with multidisciplinary team.
- The OBG wing houses the state-of-the-art IVF unit which is run in association with Khushi Fertility Centre and reaches out to all sections of the society
- The unit is a tertiary referral centre for high-risk pregnancy, medical disorders in pregnancy, emergencies in OBGYN and medical management of gynecological disorders The unit is recognized as a center to promote vaginal deliveries/vaginal birth after cesarean section. Primary normal vaginal birth rates of around 85-92% percent is achieved in the unit.
- This unit is a Surgical centre of Excellence for complex vaginal surgeries; and placenta accreta spectrum surgeries.

- Adolescent-friendly health clinic: A multi-disciplinary team of gynaecologist, paediatrician and counsellor/psychologist excelling in adolescent care renders comprehensive gynaecological services
- High risk pregnancy clinic deals with pregnant women with medical and surgical complications that could affect the health of the mother or the baby or both.
- Fertility clinic-A dedicated multidisciplinary team provides full spectrum fertility treatment from counselling for life style modifications to state of the art assisted reproductive technologies (IVF)
- Gynecology Clinic – where medical management of Gynecological disorders is the primary priority and surgical management with minimally invasive or vaginal surgeries are encouraged. Pre pregnancy clinics, Fetal medicine clinics and Menopause clinic are the other specialty clinics run by the unit.
- Fetal Medicine Unit – We do around 500 scans in a month, done by fetal medicine specialists which includes 1st trimester screening, anomaly scans, growth scans & invasive procedures – chorionic villous sampling & amniocentesis.
ACADEMICS
The OBG faculty involve themselves in teaching, training and skilling of doctors at all levels. The unit runs as a training centre for following programs,
- Training centre for MRCOG exams
- RGUHS Fellowship courses in Feto maternal Medicine and High Risk Pregnancy
- DNB course from National Board of Examinations
- The faculty participate and organize training programs and workshops like – CTG, Emergency Obstetric, and Life support courses, Live workshops for Surgical skills.
ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS
- The unit successfully caters to around 25000 outpatients, around 2000
inpatients and 1200 deliveries per year for the last 5 years - Management during the covid Pandemic OBG unit managed covid ward and were one of the first to establish
separate covid labour ward outside of the government institutions- The team delivered around 50 covid positive women with good vaginal
delivery rates - Established online consultation for covid positive patients to triage and
manage covid positive pregnant women on a daily basis

- ACADEMIC SECTION The unit has 25 MRCOG candidates who successfully passed out and around 14 students who passed their fellowship courses thru’ RGUHS. The fellowship students and the faculty successfully bagged 11 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 3 third prizes and fourth prize in paper and poster presentation at the national and the state levels The faculty conducts around 150 teaching sessions per year. Dr Latha Venkataram founded OBG Department at Rangadore Memorial Hospital in 2008, Dr. Latha in 2009, founded SBOBGYN doctors and Associates, a group of like-minded individuals, with a singular vision to promote quality, evidence and protocol-based healthcare for all women. She has actively promoted the group practice concept in India as the best way to provide round-the-clock efficient and quality healthcare. She is very skilled in complex vaginal surgeries and her special interests include managing high risk pregnancies and treating medical disorders in pregnancy.
She is a champion of normal vaginal deliveries and firmly believes that a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach is the best way to provide care as naturally as possible. She says that labour rooms, High-Definition Units (HDU), and Intensive Care Units (ICU) which are well equipped and well run are critical to ensuring the safety of mother and baby.
One of her great strengths is the vast technical expertise she has amassed over her long and accomplished career spanning nearly 3 decades. Dr. Latha continues to train young professionals and give her expert advice to the doctors who seek her counsel on complicated cases.
She has worked towards decentralisation of healthcare, thus increasing the availability of specialist care to the fringes of society. One of her most passionate interests throughout her career has been holistic healthcare for rural and tribal women. She has initiated skill training in emergency obstetric care through the BRCOG Trust and BSOG. She has developed low-cost technological applications to bring care to the masses and adopted a corporation hospital in Bangalore to reach out to the underprivileged. She has been awarded INDIA POSITIVE AWARD by CNN-IBN for reaching out services. She has a great sense of humour, is a classical carnatic singer, a dramatist and a poet.
She has around six international publications in renowned International journals. She has also contributed to Chapters on IUGR-IAP textbook and Management of traumatic PPH.
She is a National Expert on diabetes and pregnancy. She is the past President of Bangalore Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and President of Bangalore RCOG Trust.

Dr Shreelakshmi is an excellent clinician and a skilled surgeon. She played a crucial role in setting up the labour ward @ Rangadore Memorial Hospital and fine-tuned its protocols. She has been with SBOBGYN from its inception and is one of the directors since 2011.
She is passionate about the Combined Diabetic Clinics and says that the right management during pregnancy will prevent diabetes inheritance to the baby. She strongly feels that pregnancy is a window of opportunity which can help women and their families to keep diabetes at bay.

She embarked on her medical journey by earning her MBBS from the esteemed Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) in 2010 and MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from ESI PGIMSR, Bengaluru in 2014. She further honed her expertise by obtaining an MRCOG degree from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK. With two post-doctoral fellowships in Fetal Medicine and certifications from the Fetal Medicine Foundation, UK, Dr. Ashwini is dedicated to delivering top-tier fetal care.

Dr. Ashwini specializes in prenatal diagnosis, genetic abnormalities counselling, high-risk pregnancy management, fetal growth restriction, and structural abnormalities.
