Our critical care unit is committed to provide intensive care to sickest of patients with compassion, ensures high chances of survival using evidence based medicine and matches the International Standard protocols.
The critical care unit provides round-the-clock care to Patients with conditions like sepsis, diabetic, hypertensive emergencies, poisoning, upper and lower gastrointestinal bleed, pancreatitis, arrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, stroke, seizure disorder, GB syndrome, myasthenia gravis, organ failure or dysfunction, like pulmonary, cardiac, neurology, kidney, liver, and others. We are equipped with Mechanical Ventilator, Monitors, Arterial Line, Ultrasound, Hemodialysis, Endoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Ct Brain, Lab, Coronary Intervention.
Round the clock trained nursing staff and Speciality doctors. The compassionate personalized patient and family centric care and counselling in a state-of-the-art environment with a skilled team of professionals working in tandem leaves the patients and their families with a positive experience.
We are equipped with,
• Multidisciplinary Team: Our ICU team includes intensivists (doctors specialised in critical care), nurses with specialised training, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other allied health professionals. This collaboration ensures comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s needs.
• Multiple organ support : Early appropriate evaluation and management of disease condition to prevent development of new organ damage or halt the progression of disease. Includes medical management, surgical intervention when required, organ support measures.
• Advanced Technology: Our ICU is equipped with specialised medical devices such as ventilators, heart monitors, infusion pumps, and dialysis machines, allowing for continuous monitoring and immediate intervention.
• Isolation rooms : For communicable infectious diseases.
• Continuous Monitoring: Patients in the ICU are monitored around the clock. Vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen levels are constantly assessed. Advanced monitoring techniques like arterial line, central venous line, pulmonary artery catheter will be used in appropriate patients who needs further evaluation.
• Nutritional Support: Patients may receive nutrition via IV (parenteral nutrition) or through feeding tubes (enteral nutrition) or oral route depending on their condition.
• Rapid Response Teams: In case of sudden changes in a patient’s condition, rapid response teams are activated to provide immediate assistance.
• Code Blue Protocols: Standardised procedures are in place for cardiac arrest and other emergencies, involving the immediate mobilisations of the ICU team and additional resources.
• Transition of Care: Once a patient stabilises, early and appropriate discharge plan is developed, which may involve transfer to a ward for continued recovery.
Quality Assurance: we regularly assess our processes, outcomes, and protocols to ensure high standards of care and improve patient safety.
• Post-Operative Care for High-Risk Surgeries: Monitoring patients after high-risk surgeries, such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, or major trauma, ensuring stability and managing complications.
• End-of-Life and Palliative Care : For patients who are not expected to recover, the ICU provides palliative care, focusing on comfort and dignity in the final stages of life.
• Family Support : ICUs often have policies to facilitate family involvement, including designated visiting hours and support services for families coping with the stress of having a loved one in critical care.

Also a credentialed anesthesiologist with Operation Smile, an organisation providing surgical rehabilitation of children with cleft lip and palate.

Dr.Shalini Subramanim
Consultant Anaesthesiologist

Areas of special interest: Initial detailed clinical examination and assessment of critically ill patients along with decision making of their further therapeutic and diagnostic modalities. Management of patients of acute and chronic renal failure and facilitating renal replacement therapy. Hemodynamic monitoring and stability, Management of sepsis and Prescribing antiinfective therapy, Point of care Critical care ultrasound(POCUS) and ECHO, Percutaneous tracheostomy. Antibiotic stewardship, Prone ventilation, Audits of mortality and infection control including CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP, HCAP.
Achievements: She is a lifetime member of Indian society of critical care(ISCCM) and a trained BLS and ACLS practitioner.
