Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Rangadore Memorial Hospital has been actively involved in managing cases of infections of teeth and jaw, cysts and tumours, corrective jaw surgery, cleft & craniofacial surgery, cancer surgery (resection & reconstruction) including complex & medically compromised patients over the last decade.
The department also treats a wide spectrum of disorders in the orofacial region ranging from facial trauma, cysts and swellings, benign and malignant tumours. The team is adept in complex reconstruction of facial defects. Reconstructive techniques range from using patient specific implants (PSI) to microvascular composite free flaps.
The department also performs orthognathic surgeries for facial disproportion and dental rehabilitation using dental implants. The department also has a comprehensive cleft lip and cleft palate unit which provides surgeries, with follow up speech therapy and orthodontic treatment.
The oral and maxillofacial unit in Rangadore memorial hospital was the first unit in Karnataka to establish a Sialoendoscpy centre as a part of its salivary gland services. In addition, the department offers TMJ (Jaw joint) arthroscopy and jaw joint replacement.
The maxillofacial team at Rangadore memorial hospital was one of the first units to start complete oral and orbital rehabilitation in mucormycosis patients using zygoma implants and patient specific implants/ prosthesis.

Dr. Aditya Moorthy is a Maxillofacial Surgeon with over a 16 years’ experience. Following training in a busy Tertiary Trauma Centre in India, He trained renowned centres in the UK obtaining Membership and Fellowship from the Royal Colleges of Edinburgh and Ireland. He has extensive experience in Trauma, Management of Oral Cancer and Salivary Gland Disease, Complex reconstruction of face and surgery for facial deformities. Following training in Geneva’s European Sialoendoscopy Centre, He started practicing Sialoendoscopy - Minimally invasive salivary gland surgery. His interests are Temporomandibular surgery including Joint Replacement and Arthroscopy, Treatment of Facial Injuries, and Correction of Facial Disproportion, Micro-vascular Facial Reconstruction and Sialoendoscopy. He has Several National and International Publications to his credit and is closely involved in training and academic activity.

Dr. Jayanth is a Maxillofacial Surgeon with keen work interest in Cleft and Craniofacial Anomalies, with over 20 years of work experience. He has a vast experience in teaching with more than 30 enthusiastic Maxillofacial Surgeons trained under him. His interests include Cleft Lip and Palate Anomalies, Craniofacial Developmental Disorders, Facial Deformities, Rhinoplasty, Advanced Implantology Procedures and Hair Transplantation. He was associated with Paediatric Plastic Surgery Unit of Geneva University through an MOU for quality and research in Cleft Lip and Palate Anomalies for past 5 years. He has many National and International Publications to his credit along with conducting Preconference Course for the AOMSI. He is currently the Program Director and Medical Supervisor for the ABMSS Cleft Centres in India.

Dr Prithvi Bachalli is an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon trained and based in Bangalore. He has close to fifteen years of experience in the field including a training stint in the U.K. and a Fellowship from the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Following his basic training, he spent a year associated with SmileTrain training in cleft surgery,an area of interest which he retains even today. His areas of interest include managing paediatric cases, especially those with special needs in hospital and under general anesthesia. He also has significant experience caring for patients with complex medical issues. He also has special interest in salivary gland pathology and sialendoscopy.

Dr. Rohith Gaikwad is a Maxillofacial Surgeon who completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Bangalore over a decade ago, following which he pursued further training in Oral Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He then moved to the U.K where he trained at well known Maxillofacial Centres in England and in Dublin, Ireland. Here, he gained substantial experience in the management of Head and Neck Cancers and Skin Cancers, Management of Non Cancerous Lumps of the Face and Jaws, Surgical Management of Salivary Gland Disorders and Management of Facial Trauma. He has obtained his membership from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has to his credit, several National and International Presentations, Publications and Audits.
He has now settled in Bangalore and practices Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with special interest in Head and Neck Surgery.
